About TickCheck

TickCheck is a website affiliated with the East Stroudsburg University lab located at the Innovation Center in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania. Both the website and the app were created by Marathon Studios, Inc. members. The lab is dedicated to using its equipment into researching the ticks found in areas where tick-borne diseases are at a high risk and help identify ticks to people who submit them to the lab. TickCheck.com is made to present a simple and reliable way to have a tick looked at without having to fill out traditional forms and obtain 99.9% accuracy when results are sent back.

About Project

About Project

Summary

My project is a usability study on the Pennsylvania Tick Research Lab’s website, TickCheck.com. It will hold a brief report of what I found helpful from the page from my own intake, as well as the responses made by others who will be testing the website with me. Any concerns about the website will be taken to the developers, Mendim and Patricia. This project will not only focus on the website but the newly made TickCheck app which is in need of testing.

Goals
  • To use our class resources and activities to test the usability of TickCheck.com, thus giving the developers helpful feedback that they may use to polish and update their website/app so it may be easily accessible to more users

  • Having candidates based on their experience with technology who will test out the website and app so that it is accessible to anyone regardless of their competence with technology

  • To test candidates with multiple scenarios that can occur any given day should this problem ever arise with someone who will use the website and/or app in the future

Audience

The audience is meant to focus on anyone who is concerned about finding a tick that needs to be tested. This applies especially to people who live in dense forest areas, such as the Poconos.
